According to Fortinet report announced on April, there was two online gaming trojans taking Asian countries as the target, and China and Chinese Taipei suffered the majority of the attack.
One of gaming trojans is named OnLineGamesEncPK.fam. About 80% of the activity observed for OnLineGamesEncPK.fam was in Chinese Taipei, and rests was in Japan (7.1%), United States of America (1.9%), India (1.7%), Mexico (1.1%). Another gaming trojans was OnLineGames.SIN, which had dominant activity in China (79.9%) and following by Japan (7.6%), Hong Kong (4.6%), Chinese Taipei (2.3%) and Korea (1.0%). The attack tactics of these two variants is localization, and targeted towards an Asian audience using the traditional Chinese language.
The activities of online gaming trojans happened constantly everyday during the whole April. A new virus named Mutant.CV, which is muted from Cutwail, became the second common malware on April, and it was first found on 1st of April. Its mass attack was concentrated on 1st of April and the spread path is by the attachment of screen saver and e-mail.
